Rev. Susan Ulmer, a native of Columbia, South Carolina, was appointed to Carteret Street United Methodist Church on June 14, 2006, having previously served Shandon United Methodist Church (Columbia), St. Paul United Methodist Church (St. Matthews), Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church (Calhoun County) and as the Columbia District Superintendent. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. She enjoys biking, water activities, camping, reading, travel, cooking and gardening.
Rev. Andrew Wolfe was appointed to Carteret Street United Methodist Church on July 1, 2012 after finishing his Master of Divinity Degree at Emory’s Candler School of Theology. He and his wife Paige married in 2009 and she is also a graduate of Candler School of Theology and is a Commissioned Deacon in the South Carolina Conference. Andrew is a native of Greenville, South Carolina and did his undergraduate work at Clemson University. Before attending seminary Andrew worked as the Program Director at Asbury Hills Camp and Retreat Center. He enjoys playing tennis, biking, water activities, hiking and most other outdoor activities.
Church Organist and Children's Choir Director
Cynthia Chapman moved to Beaufort in 1973 when she married her husband, Chuck. In 1975 Carteret Street UMC was without an organist and Kay Tisdale Crosby asked her to fill in…She’s been here ever since! She has a Bachelor of Music Education degree with her proficiency in organ. In addition to being an organist, Cynthia also directs the youth and children’s choirs at Carteret Street UMC, and is retired from teaching music at Laurel Bay. Cynthia has two daughters and five grandchildren.
Chancel Choir and Carillon Handbell Choir Director
Kay Kaigler Tisdale Crosby moved to Beaufort in 1968 from Columbia, SC with her late husband Tommy Tisdale. She attended Winthrop University and graduated from Columbia College as a Voice Major. She taught piano for many years and in 1971 she joined Carteret Street UMC as a temporary choir director and has been here ever since. She is now retired from MCCS Parris Island. She is now married to John Crosby, a retired teacher. Kay is the director of the Chancel Choir and the Carillon Handbell Choir.
Ellen Fabian is the Church Secretary at Carteret Street. She married her husband Jimmy in April 2001. They have two sons, James and Bradley. Ellen is a native of Beaufort and graduated from Beaufort High School in 1995. She graduated College from USC Beaufort in December 2000. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Psychology and Business.
Kent Easty is the Business Manager at Carteret Street. He is retired Air Force. He is married to Joan and they have three children and five grandchildren. In Kent’s spare time he referee’s for swim meets around the United States.
Coordinator of Food Ministries
Karen Wilson is our Coordinator of Food Ministries at Carteret Street. She is married to Gray and they have three daughters, Ashley Smith (Jeremy), Lauren Wilson (Mikey) and Sarah and three grandsons, Bradley, Hunter and Avery Smith.
Tina Ashmore is the Nursery Supervisor at Carteret Street. She works full-time at Port Royal Oral Surgery. Tina is married to Jerry and they have five children, Amanda, Sean, Ellie, Katie, and Tori.
John Perry is a native of New York and is a full-time fire fighter/EMT I in the Burton Fire District. He works part time at Carteret Street UMC as our Custodian. John and his wife, Pat, moved to Beaufort in 1992. They have three children, Stephen, Katie, and JP.
